On saturday the 21st of December the fourth edition of Student Christmas Chess will be held. A tournament only open for students that are not a member of a chess club and a chance to get to know the competetive chess world. Or just to have a nice and chessy afternoon of course!
Who
This tournament is organized for chess players who play on the internet, at home, a cafe etc.
Any student (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (including PhD) or Hanze Hogeschool Groningen) that doesn’t have a FIDE or KNSB rating can participate in the tournament. For any association 1 player with a rating of <1501 can participate; this player can not win the individual prizes, but can win the association prize. If you are unfamiliar with ‘rating’ you most likely don’t have one, so don’t worry.
How
Entry is free and can be done by sending en e-mail to: info.chessfestival@gmail.com stating: Your name, student number.
To contest for the Association Prize; state your Student or Study association.
To confirm your participation you’ll have to register yourself on the 21st of December at 13.15 in the playing hall, bring you student card.

Prizes
Individual Prizes: 1. €100 2. €50 3. €30
Association Prize: €120 for the winning association (half goes to the three players directly, half goes to the association)
Rules
The rate of play is 20 minutes per person per game.
In case of a shared 1st, 2nd or 3rd place the prizes are shared.
Rules for the Association Prize: The points of the 3 best scoring players of one association are added. The highest scoring association wins the prize.
